Wendover Free Church is a Baptist/URC partnership that has been sharing the building with the local Catholic Church for more than 30 years. This is still an interesting relationship that works well, we work together as much as we can and learn from each other in all sorts of ways. Our church community aims to offer a warm welcome everyone.
Over the last four years Remco and his wife Elly have been serving the church and the community. Together with the other two churches in Wendover we aim to show the community that Jesus loves them. We run and manage a busy monthly Messy Church where we see many families and children that don’t normally attend church, and we are involved with many other initiatives serving people in a variety of ways.
We ask for prayers for:
Discipleship at and through Messy Church. As this initiative grows we would like to see some of the people who attend to take some ownership and become involved.
Never Alone Café. This is a new initiative where together with the local funeral directors we invite those who are lonely or in need of company to come and join us for a cuppa and a chat. This happens once a month and we hope to connect with some of the many lonely and isolated people in Wendover.
Sacred Space. Once a week, after school, we offer a space for the young people to come to just be. It is a place where they can unwind from the stresses of the school and life. Students in years 6 and over enjoy and snack, themed craft or game and a time of meditation.
Wendover Free Church. We face some difficult challenges and questions as our membership ages. We continue to seek God’s direction for our life together and for our mission to reach the people of Wendover with Jesus’ love.
