Biggleswade Baptist Church
Following contact with Ali Boulton and the New Housing Hub, and Ruth Rice from Renew Wellbeing, BBC sensed a call from God to "pioneer a Renew space on a new housing estate." Kings Reach is an estate that is being built and will eventually contain some 2,000 homes.
"We have increasingly encountered people feeling isolated and cut off on the estate and felt God telling us to get involved, to provide a space where anyone could come and feel safe, to chat, to receive unconditional love, and to be signposted to relevant agencies and groups within the wider community and the church. King's Corner is our response to that call" says BBC Pastor Rev. Martin Ceaser.
The church are listening to their community and trying to build a place that meets their needs and enriches their lives, and plans for development include the establishment of a Renew Wellbeing Centre on the premises, "Brunch Church" Missional Community, and groups aimed at blessing residents and introducing them through their witness to Jesus.
King's Corner opened on 20th February 2020 so is still very "fresh". Church and Community worker Jo Sharman, who is "Volunteer Coordinator" for the project, reports that in the first week of opening 31 people from the community visited, and the Holy Spirit is already being seen to be at work. King's Corner is open from 8.45 - 12.30 Monday to Saturday, and CBA visitors are very welcome.
- Give thanks to God for the way He has made this venture possible.
- Please pray for the development of real relationships, opportunities to show God's love, and for King's Corner to become the safe place for those in the community who need to know that "it's ok not to be ok."
- Please pray for Jo and the volunteer team - for wisdom, sensitivity, compassion and protection.
