Team Leader Support Services / Finance Director The Baptist Union of Great Britain Circa £53,000, based in Didcot, Oxfordshire
The Baptist Union of Great Britain links more than 2,000 churches, 13 associations and 5 colleges across England and Wales. The role of Finance Director/Team Leader Support Services oversees Finance, IT, property, investments, legal services and pensions, and is part of the wider leadership team of our Union.
The role focuses in three areas:
• To provide consistent, robust and expert financial advice to the General Secretary and members of the Baptist Steering Group;
• To lead and manage an effective financial management service to the charity; and
• To act as the leading interface between management and trustees on financial and other related matters
We would emphasise that managing our finances and investments is more than a matter of understanding money. It requires a deep and thoughtful involvement with our strategy, our mission and our plans for the future. So what will you bring? A relevant accounting qualification (eg ACA, ACCA, CIMA) is essential, as management of finance is at the heart of the role. Alongside these strong financial skills, you will bring excellent management and communication skills, including the ability to listen well, to build relationships and to work effectively with senior staff, association and college colleagues and our trustees. You will be leading a team of 24 staff, so the ability to motivate, develop and encourage others is a key part of the role. Genuine Occupational Requirement Youwill be a committed Christian,this being a genuine occupational requirement for leadership in the Baptist Union, with a record of Christian service in a local church.
