Colin Pye inducted as new Regional Minister at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Northampton

Colin Induction photo (Medium)At a wonderful service at Mount Pleasant Baptist church, Northampton, the Rev Colin was inducted in his new role as Regional Minister of the Central Baptist Association.  The Rev Paul Lavender led a packed church in worship, among whom  were  a number of Ecumenical colleagues, a coach load from Colin’s previous church at Little Kingshill, as well as good support from around the association.  Many contributed to what was a joyful occasion, including the Rev Ian Green who concluded his sermon with these words

you probably feel the task before you is a pretty big one. You would, of course, not be alone if that was your way of thinking this evening. After his enthronement as Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey reflected on the moment he was placed in the chair of St Augustine.  If you’ve visited Canterbury Cathedral you’ll know it’s an enormous stone like throne and he said: I sat there and thought there’s room enough for two – and at that very moment I realised that God was there, sitting beside me in the chair – I wasn’t alone.

Colin you are not alone in the task for which we commission you this night – you have the love of Netty, the prayers of your friends and the sustaining presence of God – and we pray that you will be very conscious and encouraged by this support around you in coming days. And in the journey we share together may God go on surprising and thrilling us that – in the words of Jonah, he is a God of compassion, grace and mercy. So may the blessing, strengthening, peace and joy of God be yours this night in the name of The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen”

We echo those sentiments!!
