Joint Safeguarding Lead - Job Advert

The Central and Eastern Baptist Association Safeguarding Lead has moved into retirement and we are looking to replace them. We are therefore seeking a person with experience in safeguarding to fulfil this part-time post commencing March 2024.

The post is for 24 hours per week, 12 for each Association, which includes four hours' protected time for paperwork, and will mainly involve working from home. An applicant who already has or applies for another part-time safeguarding lead role would not be prevented from applying for this part-time post in addition, subject to a readiness to be able to travel to both regions from time to time for meetings. Job sharing would be considered for the right candidate(s).

We are looking for a skilled, experienced, and enthusiastic person to continue to inspire excellence in safeguarding amongst our member churches. You will provide guidance and support in accordance with Baptist Union of Great Britain Safeguarding policies and procedures, and you will liaise with statutory authorities regarding cases as appropriate.  You will also help coordinate our regional Safeguarding training at BUGB levels 2 and 3. You will be supported by both boards of trustees and will attend regular update meetings with regional ministers and the moderators of the Associations.

Salary: £15 per hour = £18,720 per annum for 24 hours per week (FTE £29,250)

The full job description is available on either www.centralba.org.uk or www.easternbaptist.org.uk

The contact for informal queries is Andrew Openshaw at: secretary@centralba.org.uk

To apply, please email Andrew with a CV including contact details for three referees (one of which should be a church minister) and a statement describing how you fit the job description.

Closing date for applications – 22nd January 2024

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

Welcome to the website of The Central Baptist Association. We look after about 150 Baptist churches across Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, including Milton Keynes.  If you are looking to find a specific church near you then please click here.

Who we are

We have a team of four Regional Ministers, led by Lisa Kerry, alongside Mary Moody, Nathan Toseland and Andrew Openshaw. Andrew is also the association secretary. Our moderator is Maureen Hider and our treasurer is Roy Farrant. Jane Day is the course tutor for The Learning Collective.

What we do

We support ministers and churches by 'walking together in ministry and mission'. This includes providing pastoral care for ministers, advice to churches, guiding the settlement process, encouraging churches in their mission, providing training opportunities, encouraging networking, talking ecumenically, and offering small grants.
