Safeguarding

Joy Cheang writes:  What a year so far! As many of you are aware, CBA is going through a great period of change and transition into the next exciting stage God has planned and it seems that even safeguarding is no exception. After three and a half incredible, interesting, challenging and exciting years, the time has come for me to leave CBA.

I am moving on to the next step on my path which is towards a career in play therapy with children who are or have experienced significant trauma in their lives. This has been a long held dream and God has flung open a door in an incredible way – but that doesn’t mean that I am not incredibly sad to be leaving this post. It has been a tremendous privilege to encourage and support both the association and our member churches as we journey towards excellence in safeguarding and safer communities.

Safeguarding continues to be important to CBA, even in this season of change.  In the space between my departure and recruitment to the permanent post, we have Diane Forsyth covering the post. Diane brings great experience with her as she is already the Association Safeguarding lead for Eastern Baptist Association and she brings a wealth of skill, care and wisdom to CBA in this interim role.

Please do keep your responses, queries and crises coming in to CBA safeguarding.  The email address remains the same centralba.safeguarding@gmail.com, but the number is different – it is now: 07735 860804.  Diane is covering the same hours – 10 hours worked flexibly across the week, and there has been a full handover of all the current case files and she is here to support you!

Lastly, keep an eye out for the advert for this role and feel free to distribute to anyone you think would be a good fit – I can vouch for it being an incredible opportunity. Keep on moving forwards, keep communicating with the association and keep caring for one another – it’s been a privilege to walk alongside you these last few years.
